The Intricacies of Bali

Bali is intricate.

The food here is made with care in placement and spices, the architecture is as detailed as a good novel - hidden with layers of interest, carved beyond the first glance. The flower offerings are abundant, and crafted each morning in gratitude for the coming day.  The smoke here, unlike at home which rises thick from smoke stacks, floats from the incense sticks to the pebble lined streets disappearing into the hustle of motorbikes and smiling babies.

I’m enjoying every effort.

The walkways made by calculated rock sorting, little pebbles placed into designs, and the volcanic hot springs decorated in prayers and meaning. If only we [North Americans] weren’t so consumed with efficiency we might be able to layer our own little worlds in interest and effort.
